Arisi Paruppu / Gram Rice Sadam

Rice - 1 cup, Toor gram - 1/2 cup, Tomato - 1, Pearl Onion - 6, Garlic - 4, Green chilli - 3, Curry leaves, Malli / Coriander leaves, Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp, Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp, Cumin - 1 tsp, Salt, Hing - a pinch, Ghee - 2 tbsp, Sesame / Groundnut Oil - 1 1/2 tbsp

Heat the pressure cooker with oil & add mustard seeds. When it splutter, add cumin, green chilli, curry leaves, garlic, onion and saute well until onion and garlic turns to golden brown.
Add tomato, turmeric powder, salt, saute well and cook for a minute.
Add sambar powder, hing and saute well.
Add soaked rice, toor gram and 2 1/2 cup of waters./
Close and pressure cook it for 3 whistles on the medium flame.
After pressure, open the lid and pour ghee on top of the rice and garnish the coriander leaves.
Arisi Paruppu Sadam is ready to serve.
