Thuvaram Paruppu / Toor Gram Kuzhambu (South Indian Style)

Toor gram - 1 cup, Oil - 1 tbsp, Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp, Turmeric powder - 1 tsp, Onion - 1/2 chopped, Tomato - 1, Garlic - 3, Salt, Sambar powder - 1 tbsp

Get all the ingredients ready.
Pressure cook the toor gram with 3 cups of water, turmeric powder, 1 tsp of oil & 3 garlic cloves. Keep aside.
Heat the pan with oil, add mustard seeds when it splutters, add green chilli, curry leaves, onion and saute well until the onion turns to golden brown.
Add tomato, salt, turmeric powder, sambar powder and saute well until the tomato becomes soft.
Add 1/2 cup of water and cook for 2-3 minutes.
Add cooked toor gram and  add a cup of  water for adjust the kuzhambu consistency. Let it simmer for 5 minutes on the medium flame.
When kuzhambu becomes thick switch off the flame and garnish the coriander leaves.
Thuvaram Paruppu / Toor Gram Kuzhambu is ready to serve with rice, idli, dosa and chapathi.
